Smells Like Spring!

The reason it smells like spring is because my eyes are itchy, my nose is itchy and stuffy, and my skin is dry - ALLERGIES. They're the most evil thing in the spring, when everything is all pretty and blooming.
this picture was inspired by Cecilia's death in The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides.

Prom Expo

my friend amaka u. walking in the fashion show. she's so fierce!

So yesterday was the Prom Expo at my school, where different companies showcased dresses, tuxedos, limos and party buses, offering us discounts and everything. Our school's fashion club even modeled some of the dresses. The Student Organization and Yearbook Committee (which I'm on) were to dress up in 'prom attire' to promote the event, so I decided to do a day/night sort of ensemble. Through class, I wore a blazer and a black slip, so it was sort of a girl's version of a tuxedo. Then, for the event, I changed into my 8th grade prom dress, haha! Although I would have gone blazer-less for this look, the back didn't completely zip up, since my bust had increased one or two inches since the last time I had worn this dress in 2006.

Snow Day.

Technically, it's the second snow day we've had this year. It's a rare feat, considering that New York City rarely grants snow days. I ended up deciding to go outside in the snow (where it started hailing) and make snowmen and spend quality time with my little brothers. And PS: I love my Beatles sweatshirt as much as I love their music.

Floral.

Since it doesn't look like spring is coming any time soon, with New York being expected to hit with 8-16 inches of snow and/or rain, I figured I might as well dress for it!

Dragon Dances, Oh My!

So I'm a little late on updating, but I feel like I have to include this, otherwise I'll forget about it later on in my life, haha. So on the 20th, we decided to go watch the Dragon Dances in Chinatown, in Manhattan, as a closing ceremony for the Lunar New Year. My dad, his friends, and their team (The Rockits) led one of the dances around. My dad even managed to play the drums after more than ten years of not doing so!

Wherefore art thou, spring?

I love the winter, don't get me wrong, but my floral pieces and dresses and skirts and shorts are begging to be worn sans tights. Well, I just woke up from a festive Chinese New Year. I thought it was absolutely adorable that it fell on Valentine's Day this year.

Have a great President's Day (for those of us in the U.S) and a great Monday to everyone else! It's mid winter break for me and I have a track meet tomorrow. Instead of eating healthy and doing a light work out, I'm sitting on my couch, eating sunflower seeds, and watching Sonny With A Chance!
